Excel-erate Your Life: 5 Songs for Friday

June 1st already, time flies! A bunch of my favourite sites got purchased this week. Last.fm to CBS, StumbleUpon to EBay, and (closest to home) One Degree from (my boss) Ken Schafer to Kate Trgovac.

For those of you who have been waiting on the edge of your seats for the next Friday music post from Flackadelc, please accept my apologies. I lost a bit of my music mojo when I misplced my iPod for a whole 48 hours. Anxious times. A few weeks back, I wiped it back to factory settings and started a fresh reload. My iPod is 100% music  – no photos, movies, or podcasts. It means back to the drawing board for playlists and that I’m test driving lots of new tunes these days.

Here are five tracks that caught my attention this week:

Diferente by Gotan Project

Lunatico by Gotan Project is got me this week while I was at work listening with headphones. I’m not a traditional "world music" fan, but this stuff is has a good groove. From Wikipedia: "Their music is clearly tango, but also uses electronic elements such as samples, beats and breaks."

Must be the Moon by !!! (Chk Chk Chk)

Eclectic and energetic. There’s lots going on. Myth Takes (the album) had me chair dancing more than once this week.

On Call by Kings of Leon

I’ve been into this band since the original EP. I saw them open for the Strokes at the Hershey Centre way back when they were first on the scene. On the latest album, Beacause of the Times, the band further refines their sound and it is good. Love the vocal, the guitars, the cute Followill boys from Texas… On Call (included here) is good. Mr. Flackadelic and I really dig Knocked Up.

Lollipop by Mika

I resisted Mika. Grace Kelly (the first single) didn’t quite grab me. But now I must join the masses and admit that it is well-executed poppy goodness. I warn you, it is so sweet it just might give you a toothache.

See Emily Play by the Grapes of Wrath

From the oldie but goodie files, this track is an album cut from Seems Like Fate 1984-1992. You can Download see_emily_play.mp3

because this one is way too obscure for YouTube.
