The Starbucks at Yonge and King asks for your name when you order a bar drink. They never get mine right. I get Fiona lots, never Pheona, which is what I got called this morning. The most infamous case of mistaken identity came when a former boss called me Fiona all through a new business meeting. We didn’t land that account for some reason. On the upside, I did end up with an alter-ego/nickname at the office.
Today, I noticed a call-to-action on the Starbucks sleeve: After you read “The Way I see It,” tell us how you see it. www.starbucks.com/wayiseeit. “The Way I see It” is a series of “deep thoughts” (not by Jack Handey unfortunately), printed on Starbucks cups. Today mine is:
“The Way I See It # 113″
Music is the voice of your soul. I love how even just one moment of a song can grab you from the inside and then slowly…in its own time…release you.” – Joss Stone, musician
So I’m interested. Is Starbucks making a move toward CGM? Giving their customers a voice? Sort of. I took me three (3!) clicks from the URL printed on the sleeve to find the burried submission form. The form lets customers share, but their “The Way I See It” submissions are taken as “letters to the editor“. Close, but no cigar.
