So much Football
Tonight is the BCS championship game. The Ohio band was awesome! I’ll check and see if I can find a video and post it up here for all the other former band geeks in the house. (Stirling Citizen’s Band. Need I say more?!)
On Saturday, John and I went to the International Bowl at the Rogers Centre.
I took the brick (our Canon S50) and got a few shots.

Steve Milton at the Hamilton Spectator writes:
“It’s the phenomenon, not the phootball.
Thus, the
International Bowl was a success even before the opening kickoff
Saturday afternoon. When the underdogs rallied from an impending rout
to nearly send the game into overtime, what you had was the most
unanticipated hit on the Toronto theatre calendar. And make no mistake,
a U.S. bowl game is as much dramatic spectacle as sporting event.<snip>
Only about a third of the crowd were locals. That was partly because
the primary Canadian partner was the City of Toronto’s tourism office.
The Argos, who were consulted early in the organizing process, sent out
a notice to their season’s ticket holders and word of the game was
dispatched to regional high school and amateur football bodies. But
otherwise, the southern Ontario market went untapped, so there’s a lot
of room for growth if promoters can find the right pitch. That pitch should be the cultural experience of a U.S. Bowl. We have no exact equivalent in Canada.
It was a great kick-off to our weekend of football. We were home in time to catch the first of the four NFL Wildcard Games.
