“Music is the soundtrack to the crap movie that is my life.” – Chris Rock

Santa Claus came to Toronto today. There were lots of little kids all bundled up against the cold and damp in the subway. We went to Edward’s Record World. The best place to buy CDs within a subway stop from my house (it beats HMV and Future Shop).

New CDs

Room on Fire by The Strokes
I saw them do these songs live and had a blast. All 34 minutes of this album are tight.

Rock N Roll by Ryan Adams
Ryan Adams has made a great album. Rolling Stone writes, “The best bullets here are like excerpts from a fantasy mix tape of classic glam and garage rock.”

Meat is Murder by the Smiths
I was 10 years old and living in small town Ontario when Meat is Murder, the second album from The Smiths, was released. It includes How Soon is Now one of the best pop songs ever recorded.

Coldplay Live 2003
I am a total mark for Coldplay. This release includes DVD and CD.

xo by Elliott Smith
A fine singer-songwriter who will be missed.

Some of my Best Friends are DJs by Kid Koala
Audio collages from Radiohead’s favourite DJ.

Paul Martin has me at hello.

I love Canada. Oh what a night!

Bono was the opening act. He dropped by to preach Canada a sermon. Yes, he rambled, but overall Bono had some important key messages.

Now for the main attraction. Paul Martin’s vision for Canada.

From the Paul Martin website, “Martin is committed to changing the way things work in Ottawa by focusing on three broad national imperatives: strengthening the social foundations of Canadian life; building a 21st century economy; and ensuring Canada?s place in the world as one of dignity and pride.”

Read Paul Martin’s Making History: The Politics of Achievement.

Wait and see if he lives up to it.

In professional wrestling, there is

In professional wrestling, there is a term called a “re-set”. It happens when a story line has run its course. I saw it happen once. Vince McMahon walked out into the middle of the ring and completely changed the direction of a major story line. And that was it.

Welcome to Flackadelic.

Further Proof that Canadian Girls Kick Ass

25-year-old, Hayley Wickenheiser, left her Finnish men’s pro team and returned to Canada earlier this week. She made a choice of being with her family over pursuing a pro hockey career overseas.

The kids used to call

The kids used to call me a browner when I was in school. And, recently I have come to realize that I am a browner. Eager to please. Lisa is my favourite Simpson. In honour of my inner browner, I present the following:

Everyone needs a hero, even Canadians. Visit this site to “reveal a rich tapestry of historical and fictional figures who have at some time captured the public imagination, and who reflect the dynamism and diversity of the Canadian mosaic.”

This is a super cool way to present history using technology.

Why was geography never this cool?

Bush in 30 Seconds

Sick of the propaganda being beamed at you from the current administration’s media mavens? Here’s a new way to fight back: Enter MoveOn.org Voter Fund’s political ad contest. You don’t have to be formally trained in the art of filmmaking, just ready, willing and able to create an ad that tells the truth about George Bush.

The mobilization of the People through communication technology?! Who knew the ‘net was good for more than porn?
